Tall man, short man

Courtesy: Dailmail.co.uk

.................While Mr Xishun, 56, towers above everyone at an astonishing 7.9ft, 19-year-old Mr Pingping is a mere 2.4ft high...........

Mr Pingping was born nearby in Wulanchabu city, Inner Mongolia. His father claims he was only the size of an adult's palm at birth.

He is now seeking to be registered as the world's shortest man by the Guinness Book of Recrods. He could be in for a disappointment though. While Mr Pingping is 73cms tall, the current holder of the title Lin Yih-Chih was measured as 67.5cm.

While statistically, they are just outliers. I wonder how different life is for them. In fact it's hard to even imagine.

No more dates

1/1 to 12/31 : No more dates

On the first anniversary of the Mumbai blasts that claimed nearly 200 lives and injured 700 others, while the American and International media chose to conveniently forget victims based in India. I was pondering over the use of dates beginning 9/11. Historical dates in general knowledge books start with 772/776 B.C. when the first Olympic games were held in Greece, then 4th Century B.C. when J.C. walked on earth and then A.D. Anno Domini death of the Lord, slowly other important events happened: explorers, travelers, invaders, small wars, big wars, world wars, nuclear bombs, countries gaining independence. Governments collapsing, forming and collapsing again. This was old history, Our immediate past history deals with struggle between civilizations mostly,it is all about 9/11, 7/11, 7/7 and countless other dates. Africa is probably in such a bad shape that some countries have more people dead than living, to honor all the victim's memories is probably already out of hand. Iraqi's will have every day of the year an anniversary to remember the victims from 1/1 to 12/31 of 2005, 2006 and 2007 (2008,2009,2010?) and still fall short of the countless deaths that have, and are, taking place. Taking into account the recent events starting from the outrage expressed at Salman Rushdie's knighthood and Operation Silence at the Lal masjid in Pakistan, things are definitely bad.

Few of the worst and most heinous crimes in India have been after hurting the religious sentiments of people. Operation blue star (military intervention into the Sikh temple using tankers and armored vehicles) by the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, led to her assassination, then the massacre of thousands of innocent Sikhs in INDIA, continuing with the Kanishka aircraft bombing and death of hundreds of innocent civilians. We failed to learn a lesson, Babri Masjid, ensuing riots, Bombay blasts, riots, Ram temple controversy, riots again, danish cartoons, riots again, Black Friday anniversary, riots, and more riots because by now we are used to it.

Considering the close ties and cultural similarities India and Pakistan have, and with the open denunciation of Musharaff's policy against terrorists who happened to be Pakistani's with Operation Silence, Musharaff probably silenced his western critics but there might be trouble brewing right underneath him with the taliban openly calling for a 'holy war' (how can a war be holy?) against Musharaff and his 'hunting dogs'. He was left with no choice, interestingly he chose to act violently when the threat came to his position (radicals hidden inside the mosque wanted Islamic sharia law imposed in Islamabad and started carrying abductions and kidnappings against 'immoral' people). I'm not a big fan of Musharaff, and I can't comment on his guts thought I believe they are extra ordinary, but hopefully luck won't run out for this guy. Because he may not be the strongest man on earth for now, but surely is the most important man on earth for United States and to some extent India (and probably for Paksitan). With heightened security levels in US and UK and new threats emerging all the time with videos and messages being released against every one for every thing. I'm now used to see a report of terror attempt every other week (or every week) fortunate when it's a failed attempt, unfortunate if not. Dates don't matter anymore, numbers don't matter anymore. But I wish one eastern life was exactly equal to one western life. Especially for the media people, if not for the world leaders.

I wanna cook it...

A more than 20-kilo (41-lb) mushroom has been picked in a forest in Mexico's southernmost state of Chiapas, university officials said Tuesday.

The white mushroom, macrocybe titans, measured a towering 70 cm (27 in) tall, was found near Tapachula, near the Guatemalan border, according to the Southern Border University Center.

The legend of William tell

First read in an English Text book in primary school...
sigh! good old days

From wiki pedia:
WILLIAM TELL
was known as an expert marksman with the crossbow. At the time, the Habsburg emperors were seeking to dominate Uri. Hermann Gessler, the newly appointed Austrian Vogt of Altdorf raised a pole in the village's central square with his hat on top and demanded that all the local townsfolk bow before it. As Tell passed by without bowing, he was arrested. He received the punishment of being forced to shoot an apple off the head of his son, Walter, or else both would be executed.

Tell had been promised freedom if he shot the apple. On November 18, 1307, Tell split the fruit with a single bolt from his crossbow, without mishap. When Gessler queried him about the purpose of the second bolt in his quiver, Tell answered that if he had ended up killing his son in that trial, he would have turned the crossbow on Gessler himself . Gessler became enraged at that comment, and had Tell bound and brought to his ship to be taken to his castle at Küssnacht. In a storm on Lake Lucerne, Tell managed to escape. On land, he went to Küssnacht, and when Gessler arrived, Tell shot him with a crossbow bolt.

This defiance of the Austrian Gessler sparked a rebellion, leading to the formation of the Swiss Confederation.

Of course, as always, the authenticity of his existence is disputed...

Spaghetti Squash

Take the Spaghetti Squash and wash it
*

ya, do it the way shown here...then preheat oven to 375 deg Fahrenheit and place the squash in it.
*

Bake it for 60-70 min then, chop chop!
*

Scratch Scratch (vertically, with a fork)
*

Get the Spaghetti out of the squash
*

Take a frying pan, butter it up, add, mustard seeds and jeera (not shown in pic), ginger, jalapeño and the spaghetti, add a little salt, and maybe half a lemon squeezed.
*

Tastes well with mint chutney. One squash serves three- four guests or 1 or 2 friends.

Top 3 countries looking for sex on internet

Contrary to what your opinion may be....US, UK and some other western country are NOT here...
Google search trends show Pakistan, Egypt and India as the top three countries in the world where surfers look out for 'sex' on the Internet, and those in New Delhi and Chennai hold the top two rankings among global cities.
More here.....

How unbelievably hippocratic, where are thy moral police, attacking orkut users, love birds in parks and public places. How insultingly un-Hindu-ic and un-Islamic this is.

Kind of surprising, India, Pakistan and Egypt are placed 6th, 29th and 39th in terms of internet access to population among countries here. Yet we stand one-two-three??

Adding insult to injury, we are higher population-wise, much better ranked in internet access, and are the country with the highest English speaking population (or soon will be), yet we are lagging behind .PK and .EG.

Makes me think every bugger on keyboard is looking for something they are not getting enough. How will they get it, while they or their dads and uncles force college kids out of parks, run after cyber cafes allowing access to orkut and other sites harming national integrity. I'm starting a ban internet campaign and I'll be collecting ONLINE signatures from every person in these three countries, and to achieve my goal, I recommend high quality DSL infrastructure in these three countries in the next 6-8 years to help me in banning Internet.

Utter brilliance shows and flows all around.

....on the other hand this might be an international conspiracy to defame our culture according to which we never kiss or get intimate ever which promotes integrity and etcetera by avoiding mingling of two genders in schools, colleges and public places.
